Youths in Şırnak's Cizre district took to the streets on Sunday evening to support Ayşe Gökkan, mayor of Mardin's Nusaybin district who is on death fast against the wall Turkey is building between Nusaybin and the Qamishlo city in west Kurdistan.

Police attacked demonstrators in Cudi, Nur and Sur neighborhoods as they chanted slogans in favor of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party).

Youths responded to the police attack with stones and molotov cocktails which left two police officers wounded during clashes.

Special operation teams were sent to the district as clashes spread to other neighborhoods.
