Verdict on Hatip Dicle expected on Thursday

The rapporteur appointed by the Supreme Election Board (YSK) to examine the case of Diyarbakir MP Hatip Dicle who was stripped off of his legal mandate by the Board, has asked the rejection of Dicle's application to the Constitutional Court.

Hatip Dicle's lawyers have appealed to the Constitutional Court, arguing that only the Parliament is entitled to strip off a deputy of his seat.

Stating that the Hatip Dicle case is out of Constitutional Court's scope of authority, the court's rapporteur demanded the rejection of the application.

While the rapporteur views aren't binding for the High Court, the final decision will be made during the meeting to take place on Thursday this week.
