Visits to Imralı restricted for six months

Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and three other prisoners on Imralı have been imposed a lawyer visitation ban for six months.

Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan, as well as Ömer Hayri Konar, Veysi Aktaş and Hamili Yıldırım who are imprisoned on the Imralı island prison, have been imposed yet another restriction amid the aggravated isolation conditions they have been subjected to for years.

At the request of Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, Bursa 2nd Office of Execution has issued a six-month visitation ban for Öcalan and three other prisoners on Imralı. The decision was reportedly made on September 23.

Lawyers were able to meet their client on May 22, June 12-18 and August 7, 2019. All the visit requests submitted by Öcalan’s lawyers since the last authorized visit to the Kurdish leader on August 7, have gone unanswered.
