Voices of vengeance rise from Iran

Iranian authorities threatened the U.S. as promises to avenge Soleimani were made.

Iranian General Qasem Soleimani who was killed in an air strike of the U.S. in Baghdad on Friday, will be buried in his hometown Kerman on Tuesday after three days of mourning.

According to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), remains of Quds Forces General Soleimani will be moved to Tehran on Saturday evening, then to the Shi’ite holy city of Mashhad where a funeral service was held next to the Imam Raza shrine.

ROUHANI: IRAN IS ENTITLED TO REVENGE

The statements made by Iranian authorities on the killing of Soleimani since Friday have evolved into a promise of revenge. The first statement came from the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who declared three days of mourning and vowed "severe retaliation" against the "criminals" who killed Qasem Soleimani.

Another reaction came from President Hassan Rouhani who stressed that Iran is entitled to take revenge, and will do it.

They [the US officials] will meet the outcome of their crime today and during the next years as well, he said.

"Soleimani's martyr's death will make Iran more determined in its opposition to U.S. imperialism, and in the protection of Islamic values."

SERMON IN TEHRAN

The sermon held before yesterday’s Friday Prayer in Tehran was dedicated to Soleimani. Speaking here, Ahmet Hatami, one of the most influential clerics in Iran, vowed that the Soleimani’s companions would follow his path and disturb the sleep of America and allies, and that the Iranian nation would take “revenge”.

LARIJANI: AMERICANS MADE A STRATEGIC MISTAKE

Another official statement was made by the President of the Islamic Parliament of Iran, Ali Larijani who said Americans have made the region insecure by themselves, adding that the US terrorist act was a strategic mistake.

He said Iranians will compensate for this “terrorist accident”, stressing that the mistake made by Americans was a strategic one and a terrorist act.

RAABI: IRAN WILL SOON RESPOND

The official representative of the Iranian government, Ali Rabii stated that Iran will soon respond to the United States for the assassination of IRGC's Quds special forces commander.

Rabii said the United States had crossed a red line and that the Iranian nation will give a resolute response to this at the right time shortly.

GHAANI: BODIES OF AMERICAN SOLDIERS TO BE SEEN ALL OVER THE MIDDLE EAST

Deputy commander of the Quds Force, Brigadier General Esmail Ghaani, who was named as replacement for Soleimani on Friday, also vowed vengeance on the assassination of the top military commander.

In his first statement after the replacement, Ghaani threatened the U.S. saying; "Everyone should be patient a little to see the bodies of American soldiers all over the Middle East.”

REVOLUTONARY GUARDS: THEIR JOY WILL TURN INTO MOURNING

Iran's Revolutionary Guards spokesman Ramazan Sharif told Iranian state television that they will move on to a new stage from now.

Underlining that they will avenge the assassination of Soleimani, Sharif said: “The joy of the Zionists and Americans will in no time turn into mourning.”
