Votes recounted in Kirkuk

No government yet in Iraq while votes are recounted in several areas.

Counting of votes has begun once again in the Kirkuk region, which was one of the most controversial areas with allegations of frauds and irregularities filed from various parties.

Parliamentary elections in Iraq were held on May 12th. There were complaints from many regions about fraud and irregularities. The Kirkuk region was the leading region in terms of complaints filed.

While starting the new hand count in Kirkuk, the Election Commission also announced that in the next few days votes will be recounted in other six places.

The coalition led by Shiite leader Moqtada al-Sadr (who teamed up with the Communist Party) ended in the first place.

After the results were announced negotiations started to try and form a new government. Indeed, negotiation on possible alliances continued and the government has not been formed, despite the announcement of a possible coalition executive between Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi and al-Sadr himself.
