Since the operation to liberate Raqqa launched, dozens of civilians have been rescued from ISIS and settled in safe zones every day by the SDF fighters. One of these safe zones is the Ayn Îsa camp, now preparing for winter.
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have been carrying out an operation to liberate Raqqa for the last 3 months, and they have been rescuing civilians from ISIS with their special forces units as well as clearing the city of gangs.
The liberated civilians are settled in the safe zones they choose. Most of them are settled in villages close to Raqqa.
“WE NEED DOCTORS”
Many desperate civilians are settled in the Ayn Îsa camp. This camp was set up by the Raqqa Civilian Council and has around one thousand tents. Tens of thousands of refugees live there. The camp is run with discipline and various organizations distribute aid in the camp.
Camp Co-chair Celal Eyaş stated that there are many things lacking in the camp and they are in need of doctors the most. Eyaş said: “The camp has improved a lot compared to the previous situation. Now things are good. But still there are many things lacking. Until now it has been warm, but now it’s going to get cold and winter is on its way.”
As refugees move in daily, others are leaving the camp to return to their villages.
Winter preparations have started in the camp.
