Wise People commission meets with PM Erdoğan
The Wise People Commission, designated by the government early April and tasked with joining the efforts for the establishment of of an environment where a just and lasting peace could be reached regarding the Kurdish question, has met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Wednesday afternoon. The meeting, taking place at Erdoğan's office in Dolmabahçe, closed to the press, is expected to last till late night.
The Commission which has finalized its works after over 300 meetings with more than 60 thousand people in seven geographical regions of Turkey will submit its reports to the government today.
The commission will tell Erdoğan about the details of the reports and also voice its proposals and criticism during today's meeting.
The commission had concluded last week that a permanent solution to the Kurdish issue required a new civilian and democratic constitution.
Professor Baskın Oran and academic Murat Belge have recently announced their withdrawal from the commission due to the government's handling of Gezi protests.
