Women from Southern Kurdistan visited HDP MPs on hunger strike

A delegation of women from Southern Kurdistan visited the HDP MPs who continue their hunger strike in the HDP Amed offices to protest the aggravated isolation imposed upon Ocalan.

The delegation of 11 women from Southern Kurdistan visited HDP MPs Dersim Dag, Murat Sarisac and Tayip Temel who have been on an indefinite non-alternating hunger strike in the HDP Amed offices since March 3, demanding an end to the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan. TJA activist Gulcihan Simsek and HDP Batman MP Feleknas Uca greeted the women’s delegation who later met with HDP Co-chairs Pervin Buldan and Sezai Temelli.

Vicdan Nureddin from the delegation spoke in the visit and said, “We came here for Leyla, who is a resilient woman and a mother. I commend you for achieving a strong result in the last elections in Kurdistan. We must remember the importance of national unity once again and act together.”

BULDAN: LEYLA GUVEN HAS BECOME A SYMBOL FOR THE RESISTANCE

Buldan thanked the women’s delegation for their visit and said, “This visit is significant and it gives us strength. Wherever we are, Kurds have a similar common fate. The pain in this country to date has been unimaginable. With the most recent pressures, we are facing a mindset that ignores the existence of Kurds. The resistance launched by Leyla Guven aims to bring the days we dream of and to end the isolation. There can be no talks of a lasting peace without the isolation ending. Leyla has become a symbol for this resistance, but thousands of friends have also put their bodies on the line against the isolation. We will continue the struggle for democracy and freedom. Despite all obstacles, solidarity must continue so peace can be achieved. Such visits are significant and we thank you once again for coming.”

RIZA: RESISTANCE WILL RESULT IN VICTORY

The delegation also met with HDP MPs Dersim Dag, Murat Sarisac and Tayip Temel who have been on an indefinite non-alternating hunger strike since March 3 in the Vedat Aydin Conference Hall inside the HDP offices. Sara Riza spoke in the name of the delegation and said the resistance led by Leyla Guven will result in victory: “The protests to end the isolation are important. Today the isolation is imposed upon us all. As women, we have garnered strength from actions launched by Leyla Guven. Your resistance will result in certain victory.”

TEMEL: THOUSANDS ARE ON HUNGER STRIKES FOR FIRST TIME IN KURDISTAN

HDP Van MP Tayip Temel spoke during the visit and said, “All of Kurdistan is under attack. The Kurdish people’s resistance continues in all forms. This visit to us and to Leyla Guven by women from Southern Kurdistan is important and meaningful. Our resistance will result in victory. For the first time in Kurdistan’s history, thousands of people are on hunger strikes. This resistance will certainly prevail.”

The delegation later visited the TJA offices. TJA activist Gulcihan Simsek spoke during the visit and said the isolation is imposed upon all women and all peoples: “The resistance led by Leyla Guven is also important in this sense. As such, your presence here has given us strength. Your support and visit is a step to grow the resistance. We will prevail.”

The delegation left the offices after their visits.
