Women join the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg

TJK-E women, who took over the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in front of the Council of Europe, said that they will not accept Öcalan captivity, and called on European institutions to "stop playing three monkeys."

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in front of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg has reached week 392.

Despite the extreme cold and rainy weather, Kurds continued their Vigil in front of the Council of Europe. This week the Vigil is carried out by 5 women from the Social Committee of the Kurdish Women's Movement-Europe (TJK-E).

In the statement made by the group, women said that Öcalan captivity will never be accepted, and the Council of Europe and the CPT were told "Stop play the three monkeys".

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil has been going on for 7.5 years with determination, recalled the group adding that the Turkish state, on the one hand, is responsible for the heavy isolation of Öcalan and on the other of the massacres against the Kurdish people.

The statement called on all humanity to be sensitive and reclaim the freedom of Öcalan. "Öcalan is a defender of democracy and peace for all humanity", the statement emphasized.

The statement also reiterated that "TJK-E and all Kurdish women will continue to join the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil, despite of all difficulties. We take over the Vigil with an excited and disciplined stance. Here we see the revolution and freedom for all."

Women reacted harshly to the news of a new punishment given to Öcalan and once again called on the European institutions to end their silence.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil has been carrying on since 25 June 2012. Every week, Kurds and their friends from a different city in Europe join the Vigil mixing with the original groups.

TJK-E and women's organizations join the Vigil at least once a month.
