Women lit candles for the hunger strike resistance

Protests in Europe continue to echo the demand of the hunger strike resistance: end isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. 

Women lit candles for 7000 hunger strikers in Stockholm and many German cities.

Women have lit candles in one of the latest actions demanding the end of isolation against Abdullah Öcalan, and in support to the hunger strike and death fast resistance. 

In Germany, the action was promoted by YJK-E.

Hildesheim

A tent action is going on for the 5th week in Hildesheim to draw attention to the hunger strike resistance. The tent action is organised by Martyr Meryem Women Commune and this week 7000 candles were lit in front on the tent. 

Salzgitter

In Salzgitter too 7000 candles were lit at Stadtmonument Square in order to draw attention to the hunger strike resistance. Martyr Berçem Cilo Women Commune promoted the action.

Mannheim 

In the city of Mannheim the Ronahi Berivan Women's Assembly led the 7000 candles action in front of the main station. 

Celle

In Celle 7000 candles were lit in support of the hunger strike resistance. The DKTM Celle, the Yazidi House and antifa members joined the action. 

Frankfurt 

The action in Frankfurt was attended by dozens of people. German activists wearing aprons with the words ‘We are on hunger strike’ carried photographs of the hunger strikers.

Cologne

In Cologne the action was called, ‘In order to stop death lit a candle’ and was organised by the Cologne Women's Council.

Bonn/Leverkusen

Similar actions were held in Bonn and Leverkusen. The event in Bonn was held in Münster Platz, while the event in Leverkusen was held at the Rathuas Galeria. 

Lahr

A protest against the isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan was also promoted in Lahr.

Photographs of Öcalan and hunger strikers were shown at the Marktplatz.

Freiburg

An action was organized by Nuda Women's Council in the city of Freiburg. Women met in Freiburg Kartoffelplatz and lit candles to support the hunger strike resistance. 

Stockholm

Amara Kurdish Women's Council in Stockholm also joined the 7000 candles action. 

Activists carried photos of Leyla Güven and the other hunger strikers and organised a sit-in to condemn the silent of the Swedish government and the international community on the hunger strike resistance.
