Women political prisoners transferred in Amed

Women political prisoners in Diyarbakır E-Type Closed Prison were transferred to the D-Type Prison in the same city.

According to information received, all women political prisoners currently held in Diyarbakır E-Type Prison were transferred to the city’s D-Type Closed Prison on Tuesday. No reason was given for this move. 

Among those prisoners transferred are journalists Kibriye Evren, Hilal Ölmez and Evin Kaya, who have been on hunger strike for 137 days.

The transfer was made with ring vehicle but no information about the conditions under which the prisoners were moved was given. 

On 16 December, three women prisoners in the E-Type Closed Prison went on hunger strike to support the resistance launched by HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven. The hunger strike resistance spread to all prisons from 1 March onwards.

It is understood that only common prisoners remain in the E-Type Prison.
