Workers Party of Turkey  delegation visited Leyla Güven

Workers Party of Turkey (TIP) General President Erkan Baş and Hatay MP Bariş Atay visited Leyla Güven at her house.

HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven has been on hunger strike for 120 days demanding the end of isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The TIP delegation was not able to meet with Leyla Güven due to her health situation, but was received by her daughter, Sabiha Temizkan, and HDP Amed MP Saliha Aydeniz.

After the visit, the delegation held a press conference outside Leyla Güven’s house. TIP General President Erkan Baş said they conveyed the greetings of the workers of Turkey to Leyla Güven.

“Leyla Güven - he said - is fighting not for herself because ending isolation will mean opening the way to building peace in the whole country.”

Baş added: “Leyla’s demand is the demand of the entire people of Turkey. We are here to say that this is the common demand of all peoples who want peace. This resistance, which began with Leyla Güven, involved all of as the hunger strike of thousands of activists, in prison, in Europe, in other Kurdish provinces, puts a great deal of responsibility on those outside. In this context, we came to Diyarbakır to confirm to Leyla and her family that we will do our best.”

Baş said that they will fight for the fulfillment of the hunger strikers’ demands. “In order to spread the demands of hunger strikes, - said TIP president - we will do what we can to ensure that the current law is implemented and our friends can live free and peaceful days.”
