World Kobanê Day in North Kurdistan
Solidarity actions planned to take place simultaneously for Kobanê at 2 pm all over the world have begun enthusiastically in many cities and towns in North Kurdistan.
Hundreds of thousands of people have joined marches in Van, Muş and many other places, with the police attacking the people in Muş.
Van
In the city of Van people marched for World Kobanê Day shouting the slogan: "Everywhere is Kobanê everywhere is resistance". The people marched behind a banner reading: “The state wants war, we want peace”, and chanted the slogan: "Kobanê will not fall, the revolution will not end".
Tekman
A march took place in the Tekman district of Erzurum despite a recent flurry of arrests as police attempted to intimidate the people. Roads into the town were blocked off by police as people gathered in front of the DBP district office before the march set off.
Thousands on the streets in Varto
Thousands of people joined a march for Kobanê in the town of Varto. Marchers shouted slogans against the AKP and demonstrated their support for the struggle of the Kurdish people and the resistance in Kobanê.
Muş resists
After people in Muş had marched to Necmettin Dede Park, the police attacked the marchers with teargas and water cannon. Marchers responded by throwing stones and clashes are reported to be continuing. There have been many arrests and journalists have also been subjected to police violence.
Malazgirt
In the town of Malazgirt in Muş province, a march also took place for Kobanê. HDP Muş MP Demir Çelik spoke after the march, recalling that actions were taking place for Kobanê today on 5 continents, adding that despite all the attacks the Kurds in Rojava had established their own system.
Full support from Tatvan for the YPG
In the town of Tatvan in Bitlis province around 5,000 people marched, shouting their support for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the YPG.
Antep
In the city of Antep, where pro-ISIS gangs attacked the people between 6 and 9 September, the people were also on the streets for Kobanê. During the march pro-YPG, PKK and Öcalan slogans were shouted and the AKP government condemned for increasing deaths in the workplace, as highlighted by the recent mine accident in Ermenek.
