World marching for Kobanê

Today there will be rallies and marches in at least 92 cities in 30 countries on 5 continents to mark World Kobanê Day, 1 November, following the appeal made by thousands of people, including Nobel Peace laureates, academics and philosophers.

Marches have been organised in Europe, Americas, Africa, Asia and Australia.

The call for "Global mobilisation against ISIS, and for Kobanê and humanity" has resonated beyond Europe, with responses coming from North Africa, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan and Japan.  

In Europe people will be on the streets in every country, in particular in Germany, France, Italy and Britain.

In Germany rallies are planned in 15 cities: Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Frankfurt, Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Bielefeld, Hannover, Bremen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Erfurt, Saarbrucken, Marburg and Frieburg.

In Italy there will be protests in 19 cities: Bologna, Brescia, Cagliari, Catania, Florence, Lecce, Messina, Milan, Naples, Padua, Palermo, Ragusa, Reggio Calabria, Rome, Rovigo, Turin, Udine and Vicenza.

In France there will be rallies in 9 cities supported by at least 40 organisations, including feminists, Tamil, Armenian, Breton and Corsican associations: Paris, Marseilles, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Rennes, Toulouse, Nantes, Lille and Caen.

In the Netherlands there will be a rally for Kobanê in The Hague. In Cyprus in Nicosia, in Austria in Salzburg, Graz, Vienna and Linz. In Zurich in Switzerland there will be a rally, and there will also be protests in Brussels, Athens and Madrid. A rally will take place in Bilbao, the capital of the Basque region, and there will also be protests in Prague and Warsaw.

Rallies have also been organised in 5 cities in the UK: Manchester, London, Cambridge, Durham and Leeds.

In Scandinavia Kobanê solidarity rallies will be held in Uppsala, Angered, Gävle, Malmö, Gothenberg and Stockholm in Sweden, and in the Danish capital Copenhagen. In Norway there will be rallies in Oslo and Bergen, and also in the Finnish capital, Helsinki.

There will also be marches in 7 regions of Afghanistan, organised by the Solidarity Party of Afghanistan-SPA. Rallies will take place in Herat, Farah, Nangarhar, Balkh, Takhar, Nimruz and Bamyan.

There will be rallies in six cities in India, and in Pakistan, while in the USA there will be a march in Washington.

In South America 1 November Kobanê Day will be marked by rallies in Venezuela, Chile, Buenos Aires and Quito and in Central America in the Honduran capital Tegucigalpa. In Canada there will be rallies in Vancouver and Toronto. In Australia people will hold rallies in Adelaide and Sydney for Kobanê.
