Wounded from Kobanê still held in custody

The 6 wounded people from Kobanê who were arrested at a house where they were receiving treatment in Urfa yesterday are still being held. Lawyer Sevda Çelik Özbingöl said that they had not been taken to a hospital and that their wounds had not been dressed.

The six people from Kobanê who were wounded in clashes on different dates, 3 people accompanying them and the owner of the house, Mustafa Çiçek, were detained yesterday at the farm house in Urfa. Lawyer Sevda Çelik Özbingöl said some of the patients were in wheelchairs and needed wounds to be dressed, but had not been taken to hospital.

Özzbingöl added that the detention period had been extended for another 24 hours without reason, saying there was no justification for formal arrest. She said: “Even if they were YPG members they were brought here in an ambulance and they have no case with Turkey. They require treatment and should be released immediately.”

Ülgen released

Meanwhile, Muhammed Ülgen, an employee of the Suruç Municipality who was arrested in a late night raid on a municipal building in the Aligor neighbourhood yesterday, has been released. Ülgen was arrested during a raid on a supplementary building belonging to the Suruç Municipality where refugees from Kobanê are staying and where aid is stored.
