The Turkish Defense Minister will arrive in Berlin today, Tuesday, to get the green light for a new attack on Rojava and Shengal. "And with him comes the protest", said the umbrella organization KON-MED inviting people to demonstrate.
Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar will arrive in Berlin today, Tuesday, to get the green light for a new attack on Shengal and the autonomous regions of northern and eastern Syria when he meets his German counterpart Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer (CDU).
"No rest for warlords!" said the Kurdish umbrella organization KON-MED calling on people to join the rally in front of the Federal Ministry of Defense.
The fact that Akar is received by his German counterpart - officially for a working meeting on the gas dispute between Greece and Turkey – prompted a hard rejection at KON-MED. “The Turkish state is a global cause of conflict. Whether in Syria, Libya, the eastern Mediterranean or the Caucasus - the fascist country led by Recep Tayyip Erdogan not only interferes in international conflicts and wars, it also stirs them up."
Even if Akar shows up in Berlin in a suit and tie, it doesn't change the fact that, as Erdoğan's war general, he is the “main planner of massacres and the genocidal war in Syria” and also directs the conflicts in Libya and in the Mediterranean”, according to KON-MED.
“Ankara causes and benefits from all these problems. If the federal government really wants to act as a mediator, it must not sit down at the table with the occupiers and their ministers, whose hands are stuck with blood. The only legitimate interlocutors are the Kurdish and Turkish people, who need to be met at a peace table. Otherwise Germany would only support Erdoğan.”
KON-MED added: “We ask ourselves when the Turkish state will be put in its place by Germany. As is well known, the federal government is not bothered by massacres against the Kurdish population and the destruction of entire Kurdish cities as well as the occupation in northern Syria, but what about Europe? Does Germany only want to become active when Turkey also occupies south of Cyprus, after it has already been drilling for natural gas in the eastern Mediterranean in violation of international law? Or will criticism only arise after all the reserves of the Cypriot and Greek population have been exploited? That is why we call on the democratic people to protest against the visit of the Turkish Defense Minister to Berlin. Akar is coming to the German capital - but with him comes the protest.”
The rally in front of the Ministry of Defense at Stauffenbergstrasse 18 begins at 12.30 pm.
