Actions are taking place in several Austrian cities to mark the 22nd anniversary of Abdullah Öcalan's abduction in Turkey on 15 February 1999.
The umbrella organization of the Kurdish diaspora in Austria, FEY-KOM, has announced a series of events in various cities on 15 February.
On 15 February 1999, Abdullah Öcalan was abducted from the Greek embassy in Nairobi and brought to Turkey as part of an internationally organized secret service operation and has since been in solitary confinement on the prison island of Imrali. Since then, protests for his release have taken place around the world around 15 February. This year the 22nd anniversary coincides with the international campaign “Time has come - Freedom for Öcalan”.
In its appeal, the Kurdish umbrella organization FEY-KOM makes it clear that Öcalan's isolation represents an attack on the peace process in the entire Middle East and is supported by forces that benefit from the endless continuation of the war. Despite his isolation, Abdullah Öcalan's ideas have now spread around the world and are being successfully implemented in liberated areas such as Rojava through the development of a grassroots, equal society. The association declares that Abdullah Öcalan's fight for freedom is closely related to the fight against Turkish fascism and is an imperative for everyone who wants peace, freedom and democracy in Turkey.
As part of the “Time for freedom” campaign, prisoners from the PKK and PAJK started an indefinite hunger strike in five-day shifts on 27 November. FEY-KOM calls for support for the hunger strike and the demands of the hunger strikers for an end to Öcalan's isolation and the destructive prison conditions in Turkish prisons.
FEY-KOM announces the following actions:

February 12: car convoy between St. Pölten and Vienna (between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.)
