The Freedom Vigil, which was launched on 25 June 2012 demanding the end of the isolation imposed upon Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, continues with determination. The action, which is carried out in front of the buildings of the Council of Europe and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) in Strasbourg, continues every week with groups of Kurds and their friends living in the diaspora.

Kurdish patriots in Strasbourg took over the action, which takes place seven days a week between 08:30 and 17:00. The new group includes Ceco Amed, Vedat Zinar and İsmail Maraşi.

The activists underlined the isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan and said that the countries that are partners of the International Conspiracy are responsible for the massacres against the Kurdish people.

They said that the International Conspiracy seeks to eliminate the freedom struggle of the Kurdish people. Tukey, which is a candidate of the European Union, does not fulfil its commitments to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).

'Sanctions must be applied’

The activists maintained that since Turkey does not fulfill the requirements of international human rights conventions, sanctions must be imposed on Turkey in line with the constitutional requirements of the Council of Europe and the European Union. They also said that the perspective of Democratic Confederalism introduced by Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan has presented the clearest solution to humanity to end the wars in the Middle East.

Booklets and leaflets in various languages ​​describing the struggle and ideology of Abdullah Öcalan are distributed to people during the vigil.
