Soner: Our aim is to finally open the gates of Imrali

HDP Amed Provincial deputy co-chair Irfan Soner said that the 'Justice for All' Campaign will continue until May 1, and that the main item of the campaign is the Imrali isolation. Soner said, "We do not expect justice; we will provide it."

The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) announced at a meeting held in Ankara on 8 February, the 'Justice for All Campaign', consisting of a series of events which will last until June. The campaign will continue gradually and them main items on the agenda are isolation and femicide.

The campaign continues in Turkey and Kurdistan and Amed HDP Provincial co-chair Irfan Soner spoke about the work carried out in the city.

Isolation is one of the main item of the campaign

Soner said that one of the main topics of the campaign, which is the aggravated conditions of isolation imposed upon Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, will be taken as basis for the whole work. Soner noted that they visit the city street by street, house by house, and met with many shopkeepers already.

Soner pointed out that isolation was applied in all prisons, not just in Imralı, and said that the slogan "End Isolation, Justice for Prisoners" will be included in their campaign. Soner added: "The state's criminalization and repression of the Kurdish people is seen very clearly by the society. When we look at the last week of our work, we see how the society reacts to the state. People are tired of this government. Today we think that if an election was made, we would get at least eighty percent in Amed. Because people are now economically and psychologically worn out."

HDP  will provide justice for all

Providing information about the campaign, Soner said: "Actually, this campaign is our fourth initiative. As you know, we marched from Edirne and Hakkari to Ankara. We also had meetings with civil society organizations. We have the 'meeting for bread and work'. And now the 'Justice for All' initiative. This slogan is not only claiming the justice we expect from the state, but it is also about justice for everyone, the justice we will provide if we were to take power. We say that we will provide justice to all marginalized and oppressed segments of the society. Of course, opening the doors of Imrali and other prisons comes first.”

Campaign to include many activities right through Workers' Day
Soner said that on 21 February “we will launch a campaign with the participation of our co-chair Mithat Sancar, to demand that Kurdish become the official language of education. Our activities will continue through the month of April and Mr. Öcalan's birthday to arrive to 1 May, Workers' Day. We will fill these special days with contents and events, press releases and other actions. And of course, we are finally prepared for early elections.”
