Egyptian politician Habashi to the HDP: You are not alone

Emphasizing that the HDP members will not "lose much" by lifting their immunity, Mamduh Habashi, a Politburo member of the Party of People's Socialist Alliance of Egypt, said, "It is the people who give you real, reliable and sustainable immunity."

Mamduh Habashi, a Politburo member of the Party of People's Socialist Alliance of Egypt expressed solidarity with the HDP and said that they also faced similar pressures in Egypt.

Habashi underlined that the HDP works for the rights of all the workers and oppressed like the People's Socialist Alliance and added “We are in the same ‘trench’.”

Habashi said the HDP deserved international solidarity and underlined that “the pressures of living in Turkey today are like those in Egypt and are tried to be converted into 'normality'.”

Reminding that Abdel Naser Ismail, the deputy chairman of their party, has also been in prison for 18 months, Habashi shared the information that many other party members or independent politicians are in prison.

Mamduh Habashi said that some issues could be debated in parliament if requested by the opposition in Turkey, while in Egypt only 'the issues the dictator wants to hear can be discussed.”

Habashi called on the HDP to "keep your head up! You are not alone and we are mass if we stand together.”

A member of the Politburo of the Egyptian People's Socialist Alliance, Habashi is also deputy president of the Forum for World Alternatives (WFA) in Dakar and a member of the Arab & African Research Center (Arab-African Research Center - AARC) in Cairo.
