Yazidi Coordination calls for action to stop Turkish attacks against North-East Syria

The European Yazidi Community Coordination urges all influential countries and relevant international institutions to take responsibility and make efforts to prevent the deadly attacks by the Turkish state.

The Coordination of the Yazidi Community in Europe issued a written statement to protest the Turkish invasion attacks against Rojava and the recent drone attack in Qamishlo.

The statement on Thursday said: “A new drone attack took place as part of the systematic terror attacks by the aggressive, expansionist and fascist Erdogan regime. The most recent drone attack claimed the lives of Qamishlo Canton Council Co-Chair Yusra Derwêş, her deputy Leyman Şiweş and Fırat Tûma. These inhumane attacks show that the unlawfulness and the barbaric ISIS mentality still predominate the region.”

The statement continued: “The basic characteristics of ISIS, the irregularity, the lawlessness and the denial of all human values, are embodied in Erdogan's fascist regime. Constantly attacking a region that has established a self-government which involves all faiths and ethnic groups in the region and attempting to eliminate it require adopting a barbaric mentality like ISIS. For us, the Turkish hostility toward a democratic and pluralist political structure that protected the Yazidi community during the genocide and made serious efforts to cleanse Shengal from ISIS is tantamount to ISIS mentality.

The statement concluded: “We consider the attempts to weaken the autonomous administration in Rojava and all the attacks against it as directed against the Yazidi community. Within this context, we urge all influential countries and relevant international institutions to take responsibility and make efforts to prevent these attacks.”
