YJA (Free Women’s Army) Coordination has released a statement on the protest of Nusaybin mayor Ayşe Gökkan who has turned her hunger strike against the building of the wall between Nusaybin and Qamişlo into a deathfast.

YJA Coordination pointed out that the Kurdish women have always fought to protect their freedom and values, and greeted the “brave resistance” of Ayşe Gökkan who -it underlined- has led the public resistance against the fascistic attacks targeting the existence, freedom, will and democratic unity of Kurds.

Underlining that the freedom struggle of the Kurdish women has the strength to overcome all borders, walls and obstacles, YJA said the wall Turkey is building on its border to Rojava pointed to the status the AKP government deemed proper for Kurdish people.

YJA Coordination ended its statement by calling on Kurdish people to support Gökkan's protest and to march to the border and to take down the walls of shame.
