YJA Star releases 6th Conference final declaration

Women’s Guerrilla Army YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops) has released the final declaration of the 6th Conference which was held between 27 November and 4 December and attended by 134 delegates and guests under the slogan: "Let us step up the struggle of the Saras and Rojins and end the incarceration of leader Apo".

In the declaration an evaluation was made of the current phase of the struggle and the determination to take the struggle on to victory was noted. The declaration remarked that participation has been secured at the conference from all Media Defence Areas, and continued; "Our conference, being held as it was to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the PKK, has expressed its aim to maintain the spirit of the women's freedom struggle, which is the real essence of the PKK. On the 20th anniversary of the organised women's guerrilla struggle led by comrade Sara, the struggle has reached its zenith in Rojava."

"As Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan said: 'We shall neither fight as we used to, nor live as we used to,' and our conference resolved to undertake a re-structuring of the YJA Star forces", the final declaration underlined.

The declaration pointed out that; "The revolutionary people's war launched in 2011 created the situation whereby in the autumn of 2012, following talks held by a state delegation on İmralı, our leader decided to carry on the fight in the form of a democratic struggle to achieve results. As the process proceeded our leader launched the 'Democratic Liberation Project' at Newroz."

It was stressed in the final conference declaration that reactionary forces in the region are trying to sabotage the effects of the democratic struggle launched by Öcalan in North Kürdistan and Turkey and the revolution in Rojava. It was also emphasised that just as the situation in the region offers the opportunity for revolution and freedom for the people of the region and Kurdistan, there is also the threat of genocide against the Kurdish people and hence there is a need for the YJA Star forces to be more prepared than ever to carry on a resistance and defensive struggle.

Some of the decisions reached at the YJA Star Conference are;

- YJA Star will actively oppose all attacks on our people and women and step up the struggle against such assaults.

-YJA Star considers the freedom, security and health of its leader to be the fundamental reason for its existence and struggle."

"On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the start of the organised women's army it is clear we are stronger than ever and closer to victory. It is our duty to commemorate our thousands of martyrs as we carry our people and women to freedom", YJA Star underlined and called on everyone to step up the struggle for freedom and democracy.
