Young people organizations commemorate Martyrs of May

Young people organizations commemorated Ibrahim Kaypakkaya, Haki Karer and the other Martyrs of May, and said that they will continue to learn from their lives and practices and carry the revolutionary legacy forward.

The New Democrat Youth (YDG), Revolutionary Student Union (DÖB), Leverage and Student Activity, held a press conference to commemorate the revolutionaries İbrahim Kaypakkaya, Haki Karer, Ferhat Kurtay, Eşref Anyık, Mahmut Zengin and Necmi Öner, who fell as martyrs in Izmir in the month of May.

A minute's silence was held for those who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom and revolution. Various youth organizations also attended the commemoration.

Speaking on behalf of the organizations, Hasan Benli drew attention to the importance of commemorating the martyrs of the Turkish revolutionary movement and said: " Gezmiş, Hüseyin Inan, Yusuf Arslan Ibrahim Kaypakkaya, Haki Karer, Sinan Cemgil, Hasan Ocak and many more revolutionaries who have fallen in the month of May entered this path with fire in their hearts. They left the task of making that fire burn to us."

Benli said: “The parliament teaches that the masked fascist dictatorship has nothing to give other than oppression. While Ibrahim's observations remain true, they continue to illuminate the path of the revolutionary young people. We will continue to learn from the lives and practices of the martyrs and will continue to carry the revolutionary legacy in every field we are in!”
