The Kurdish youth movements TCŞ and TekoJIN Coordination called on young people to take to the streets on 17 December and underlined that for 20 months there has been no news from Abdullah Öcalan, and that they should not remain silent.
The statement said: “Our Leader became the hope of salvation for the Kurdish people and left us a new system that contains the essence of humanity. Just as the Democratic Ecological and Women's Libertarian paradigm he created in Rojava came to life, today, in these historical moments, we are listening to the slogan Jin Jiyan Azadi in Rojhilat. And it is something that gives hope to the whole world.
With the belief created by our leadership, the guerrillas who protect the essence of resistance and humanity today in the war tunnels in Zap, Avaşîn and Metina show the world their hope of life.
The tremendous resistance carried out by our Leader for 24 years has set an example for us and has been a decisive and guiding light for us. Our concerns for the health and safety of our Leader have deepened even more.
We invite all people to our march that will be held on 17 December with the slogan 'Werin Cenga Azadiyê for the Freedom of Leader Apo'.”
