Young people will continue to struggle for freedom of Öcalan, says Italian activist

Turin Youth Movement activist Lucia said that, as young people, they will continue to struggle and fight for the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Stating that humanity needs the freedom and ideas of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Turin Youth Movement activist Lucia said: "He is not only a politician, but also a philosopher."

More than 60 youth organizations and more than 300 activists attended the 1st World Youth Conference organized by "Ronahi" and the "Youth Making History" network in Paris between 3-5 November.

Torino Youth Movement activist Lucia, who attended the conference from Turin, Italy, spoke to ANF. Lucia said that they discussed a new, creative and democratic response to capitalist modernity and added that “Democratic Confederalism offers hope.”

Noting that seeing the existence of those fighting for the same struggle against the capitalist system at the conference, and understanding that they were not limited to a small group, made them feel optimistic, Lucia said: “You didn't know how big, how powerful you could be before. Here you feel all this power, because we are together and we know we can really change the world."

Öcalan’s ideas are being put into practice

Reminding that Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan has been held in isolation for 25 years, Lucia continued: “He never stopped working for us, he never stopped working for the revolution and thinking about freedom. That's why he also wrote in prison. We can now read his ideas, not only read them, but also see them in society, in Rojava, in democratic confederalism. I think we can learn a lot from this revolution. It is not just a path for Kurdistan and the Middle East, but for the whole world."

Fight for Öcalan’s freedom

Stating that humanity needs the freedom and ideas of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Lucia added: “He is not only a politician, but also a philosopher. We, as young people, must continue to fight for his freedom. We will continue to struggle and fight until we achieve that."
