Young people who attended a youth meeting organized by the Green Left Party in Istanbul said that they embraced the Green Left Party on the eve of the key elections in Turkey and North Kurdistan on May 14.

Green Left Party parliamentary candidates organized a youth meeting in the Maçka Democracy Park in Beşiktaş. When the Supreme Electoral Council banned the event, the parliamentary candidates met young voters in Hacıahmet.

Young voters who attended the event explained to ANF why they supported the Green Left Party.

'GREEN LEFT OFFERS A FUTURE’

Theatre artist Diyar Koç remarked that the Green Left Party promised uncensored and free art. He said: “You can see the enthusiasm here. Our meeting in Maçka was cancelled but we have not given up. The Green Left Party offers us a sustainable, predictable future, it promotes environmentalism. It offers free, uncensored art. We support the Green Left Party in order not to pay huge taxes to buy a cell phone.”

'GREEN LEFT IS PRO-WOMEN'

Student Fate Polat said: “One of the biggest reasons why I endorse the Green Left Party is their pro-women perspective. In our country, women are killed in broad daylight and their perpetrators are not punished. The only party that can offer a just solution to this is the Green Left Party. As a student and a young woman, I am very happy to work on behalf of the Green Left Party. Students are the first to be sacrificed in this country. This was the case during the pandemic and the earthquake. We have not been to school for the last 4 years. We cannot pay our house rent. The Green Left Party offers solutions to these problems.”

'A GENUINE POPULAR PARTY...'

Hasan Balat said that the Green Left Party worked on behalf of the youth. He added: “We support the Green Left because it is a party of the people, because it is the only party that can bring peace to the people. They have many projects for the youth. That's why we support the Green Left Party.”

Elmas Subaşı said: “We support the Green Left Party because the party has a high opinion of women, children and nature. We support the Green Left Party because it advocates the co-presidency model and the Istanbul Convention in the Parliament.”
