Youth killed by police in Şırnak
Turkish army launched an air-supported operation in the Cudi Mountain area late yesterday evening.
Local people in Silopi district of Şırnak marched to the area, Grê Çolya region, to stop the operation in order to avoid a clash between the Turkish military and guerrillas forces.
The local people who were prevented near the village of Uyanık while on their way to the operation area however couldn't be hindered by soldiers who were forced to withdraw from the area in face of the determination by the civilians.
Clashes broke out between youths and police in Başak neighborhood of Silopi district when the people turned back from the area after forcing the military to stop the operation.
A youth, Salih Yiğit, was severely wounded after a real bullet fired by police in the conflict hit him during the clash in the neighborhood.
Rushed to Silopi State Hospital soon after the incident, Yiğit lost his life despite all the efforts made to rescue him. The boy's body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institution in Diyarbakır for an autopsy.
