YPG: 31 gang members, including a leader, killed in Kobanê

YPG Press Office has issued a written statement on the 58th day of the clashes in Kobanê that started with the attacks of the ISIS gang aiming to occupy the town. The statement said YPG forces have inflicted heavy blows on the gangs by means of effective attacks targeting them in the town centre as well as by the operations on the targets outside the town.

YPG Press Office reported that 31 gang members, including an Emir (leader) of the gangs, were killed in yesterday's fighting. YPG also said that it launched an operation on the gangs deployed in the Rawiya district of Serêkaniyê.

“At the eastern front of Kobanê, our forces launched various operations on the gangs attempting to infiltrate the town, killing 5 gang members as far as ascertained” said the YPG, adding that their forces also launched a series of operations on the gangs on the Helinc road to the southeast of the town.

YPG said 2 vehicles and 1 motorcycle of the gangs were destroyed in the operations while 9 gang members as far ascertained were also left dead.

“At the southern front, fierce clashes took place the whole night between our forces and the gang groups. 6 gang members, including a leader of the gangs called ‘Emir’ were killed in the clashes”, said the YPG.

The statement further reported that YPG forces launched an operation on the gangs emplaced in the areas near Minaze village to the west of Kobanê, killing 11 gang members as far as ascertained.

YPG Press Centre also reported that the operations of the YPG forces against the gang groups in the southern and south-western areas of Serêkaniyê continue, and added: “Yesterday afternoon, an operation on the gang groups emplaced between Rawiya district and the border line was carried out. 3 gang members were killed in the operation”.
