YPG: 86 gang members killed in Kobanê
People's Protection Units (YPG) Press Centre has released a statement about the most recent attacks and clashes in the Kobanê canton of West Kurdistan going on since 15 September.
YPG said their forces have inflicted a heavy blow on ISIS gangs in the last five days of fierce clashes, killing 86 gang members, destroying five vehicles and seizing large quantities of ammunition.
8 fighters of the YPG lost their lives in clashes.
Clashes are taking place in all the villages and areas the gangs are attacking with an aim to commit mass killings, YPG Press Centre said and noted that YPG forces are also trying to prevent the advance of ISIS gangs on many fronts, and to evacuate the people to safer areas in order to avoid the risk of probable massacres.
The YPG statement remarked that severe clashes are still taking place in;
- Zerik, Girê Zagros, Cibilferec, Derbazin, Boraz, Degirmen, Ewenê and Qilhaydê to the west of Kobanê,
- Ebu Sirrê line and the villages of Korik, Metînî, Îdaniyê, Bexdik and Qilqilik in the east,
- villages of Qerarîşk, Boxazê, Berxbatan, Torman, Qamçê, Kunaftar, Zerik, Üçkardeş, Çelebiyê, Piling, Xarbîstan, Goraniyê and Gire Şehîd Xabur in the south.
According to the YPG statement, 86 gang members were ascertained killed and dozens of others wounded in the areas of clashes, and the bodies of 7 are being held by YPG forces.
In its statement the YPG said 8 of its fighters had died on the 5 main fronts while preventing the advance of the gangs.
The statement added that ISIS attacks on the mentioned areas and villages as well as the resistance of the YPG are continuing.
