YPG (People's Protection Units) Press Centre has released a statement providing information about the fighting going on for the 29th day against ISIS gangs aiming to occupy the Kobanê town of West Kurdistan.
YPG Press Centre reported that the advance of gangs has been halted on the eastern, southern and western fronts, and that some points in the west and town centre have been retaken with the support of the airstrikes by the international coalition.
The statement pointed out that clashes on the eastern front broke out yesterday morning and continued uninterruptedly till late night. YPG said their forces spotted and destroyed three bomb-laden vehicles gangs used to commit suicide attack after facing failure in face of the resistance mounted by YPG forces. 9 gang members were ascertained killed in the fighting here and large quantities of ammunition were seized.
On the southern front- the statement continued- gangs attempted two attacks with a bomb-laden truck and motorbike which were however destroyed by YPG fighters. Many members of the gangs were killed or wounded and arms belonging to them were seized in the clashes following the attacks.
On the western front, YPG forces carried out an operation in the Tal Shair village under the occupation of ISIS gangs. The village and a strategic point close to it were cleansed of gangs, 4 members of theirs were killed and their weapons were seized in the YPG offensive.
