YPG attacks on ISIS gangs in Kobanê continue

As YPG/YPJ (People's/Women's Defense Units) fighters are continuing attacks on ISIS gangs in the Kobanê town of West Kurdistan, Rojava, fierce clashes took place yesterday on the eastern front while on the other hand gangs continued to attack the Helinc road under the control of YPG forces. Attacks on gang groups deployed around the villages of Mineza and Izea to the west of the town, also continued.

YPG Press Centre reported in today's statement about the ongoing fighting that ISIS attacks aiming to occupy Kobanê continued for the 60th day.

YPG/YPJ fighters who have gained an advantage over the gang groups after repulsing their attacks, are also continuing attacks on gangs inside and outside the town.

YPG Press Centre stated that YPG forces inflicted heavy blows on the gangs in fierce clashes around the Hacı Reshat Mosque, Municipality Street and Azadi Square. 4 gang members were killed in the fighting around the Hacı Reshat Mosque and at least 3 at Azadi Square, while the number of casualties on the municipality street couldn't be made clear. YPG forces also seized large quantities of ammunition and arms belonging to the gangs.

According to the statement, along the day and night, ISIS gangs continued to attack the Helinc road in southeast Kobanê under the control of YPG forces. All the attacks of the gangs were repulsed and 13 members of theirs as much as ascertained were killed.

YPG Press Centre said 7 other members of the gangs were killed in night-long attacks launched by YPG forces targeting some points occupied by the gangs on the southern front.

YPG fighters also carried out an attack against the gang groups deployed around the villages of Mineza and Izea to the west of the town, killing 8 members of theirs and destroying a vehicle and motorcycle belonging to them.

The statement also informed that 4 fighters of the YPG have lost their lives whilst bravely fighting the gangs in the last one day of clashes.
