YPG (People's Defence Units) Kobanê Command has released a statement denying reports that Kobanê has been declared a military area. YPG stated that thousands of civilians in the town are being protected by their forces.

YPG said reports about the alleged declaration of Kobanê a military area and the alleged evacuation of civilians from the city have nothing to do with the truth.

The YPG Kobanê Command underlined that thousands of civilians were still living in Kobanê centre, adding; “As the YPG, we are continuing to resist and fight with all our strength in order for the protection of these people of ours.”
