YPG retrieves slain Russian soldier’s body from ISIS

Body of a Russian soldier killed by ISIS gangs in Palmyra (Tedmur) was retrieved from the gangs by YPG forces.

YPG (People's Defense Units) forces took the body of a Russian soldier who died in the operation to take back Palmyra from ISIS gangs on February 16.

YPG Spokesperson Rêdûr Xelîl confirmed the operation and said that they had retrieved the Russian soldier’s body as a result of a special operation by the Russia's request. Xelîl expressed that they had carried out this mission as a humanitarian responsibility.

Xelîl did not disclose details on the operation.
