YPG: Some areas retaken from ISIS in Kobanê

YPG (People's Protection Units) Press Centre has released a statement providing information about the fighting against ISIS gangs in the Kobanê town of West Kurdistan, Rojava, continuing on the 31st day.

The statement by YPG Press Centre said that ISIS gangs uninterruptedly continued their attacks on the eastern and southern fronts from yesterday evening till early this morning. YPG said the attacks were repulsed as a result of hand-to-hand fighting during which 16 gang members were killed and many arms and ammunition belonging to them were seized by YPG fighters.

YPG Press Centre remarked that the attacks the gangs launched on the southeastern front, which also involves the Miştenur Hill, yesterday evening and night have all been repulsed. The statement said that YPG forces have also launched attacks at this front, killing at least 11 members of the gangs and seizing large quantities of ammunition belonging to them.

According to the statement, gangs were repelled from the southern front where they launched two major attacks last night and were harsly responded by YPG fighters who also recaptured an area formerly taken by ISIS gangs.

YPG noted that a vehicle carrying gang members was destroyed, with militants inside it, near the Seyran wedding hall on Aleppo road. Six gang members were killed and three others were wounded.

The statement said that a total of 33 gang members have been ascertained killed, one vehicle was destroyed and large guantities of ammunition belonging to them were seized in the last 24 hours. The body of an ISIS militant killed in clashes is being held by YPG fighters.

The statement added that a fighter of the YPG has fallen during last night's clashes.
