The Internal Security Forces of North East Syria conducted an operation against drug trafficking groups associated with the Turkish state, seizing over 440 kg of drugs.
At a press conference held in front of the Internal Security Forces' headquarters in Qamishlo, the General Command of the Internal Security Forces provided details regarding the seized drugs.
The Internal Security Forces Spokesperson Eli El Hesen stated that the war against drug trafficking is ongoing.
El Hesen indicated that an operation was carried out based on information that Turkish state-affiliated gangs would be transferring huge amounts of drugs to the region.
The operation resulted in the capture of 438 kilos of narcotic substances (about 2 million 570 captagon pills), the warehouse where the drugs were housed, and the vehicles used to transport the drugs.
During the first interrogation, the suspects confirmed that some of the drugs had been trafficked from neighbouring countries.
El Hesen stated the following: “Foreign powers are involved in the distribution and sale of narcotics in our territories. In response, our forces will continue to protect the environment of trust and tranquillity. Furthermore, foreign powers and some feeble people aim to disrupt our region's unity by using all dirty ways, undermining social values by bringing drugs and smuggled chemicals into our region, and sending these substances to other countries through our region.”
