First Eid visit between DEM Party and AKP after ten years

Visits between political parties started on the 2nd day of Eid al-Fitr. DEM Party and AKP came together for the first time since 2015.

As part of visits on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, a delegation of the ruling AKP (Justice and Development Party) visited the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Headquarters in Ankara on Monday.

AKP deputies Resul Kurt, Saniye Enfiyeci and Abdulkadir Kadiroğlu took part in the delegation.

The guests were welcomed by an DEM Party delegation consisting of Öztürk Türkdoğan, Co-Spokesperson of the DEM Party's Legal Commission, Yüksel Mutlu, Co-Chair of the Peoples and Beliefs Commission, and Bitlis MP Hüseyin Olan.

Speaking here, DEM Party's Yüksel Mutlu expressed their wish for peace.

Resul Kurt of the AKP said, “The call made by İmralı (referring to Abdullah Öcalan) with great responsibility has found a positive response in society.”

At the same time, a DEM Party delegation visited the AKP Headquarters, welcomed by AKP officials Belgin Uygur, Necmettin Erkan and Rukiye Toy.

The Future Party (Gelecek Partisi) was also among the parties that visited the DEM Party. Meryem Türktekin from the delegation of the Future Party emphasized the need to resolve the fundamental issues in Turkey through dialogue, while DEM Party representatives stated that they are fighting for a democratic Turkey. 

Eid visits will continue with the participation of Saadet Party and DEVA Party.
