The People's Defence Centre (HSM) Headquarters Command released a statement on the occasion of the foundation anniversary of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) on 27 November 1978 in the village of Fis in Amed (tr. Diyarbakir) province. The statement released by HSM Headquarters Command on Sunday reads as follows:

“Happy 46th anniversary of the founding of our Party, the PKK, to the Leader of our Movement, the Founder of our Party, the greatest labourer Rêber Apo (Leader Abdullah Öcalan), to our patriotic people, to the families of martyrs, to the dear friends of our Party, to those resisting in prisons, to our comrades who struggle in every field and to all PKK sympathisers!

Our party, the PKK, is a Martyrs' Party that has come into being on the basis of giving the correct meaning to the martyrdom of Comrade Haki Karer, keeping his memory alive, avenging him and achieving his goals, and has been marching uninterruptedly for half a century for this cause. The Martyrs' Army, which pioneered our party, the PKK, has created great values, sublime measures, the most quintessential human virtues, high spirituality, the Apoist sacrificial spirit and a meaningful and valuable life that it is worth dying for in the 46 years of struggle. These sacred values have been embodied in the form of the line of martyrs as our most fundamental source of strength. Every ring of martyrdom in the PKK's 46 years of relentless struggle has been the name of the truth that is constantly growing and marching towards victory. We commemorate all our glorious martyrs who created this sacred truth at the cost of their sweat, life and blood with respect, love and gratitude in the person of our great Party Martyr, Comrade Haki Karer.

Our party, the PKK, which has developed and strengthened with the deep foresight and great efforts of Rêber Apo, has created the reality of a heroic people that has walked from non-existence to existence, from exhaustion to resurrection, from genocide to liberation, from colonialism to independence and freedom, as if digging a well with a needle in its 46-year struggle. The PKK struggle, every moment of which is like an epic, has created the reality of a resisting people that fights for its existence and freedom without hesitation by making a revolution within revolution, the reality of free women and the invincible PKK militancy that fights with the Apoist sacrifice spirit, and presented it to the oppressed peoples and all humanity. Our party, the PKK, has realised the most profound social revolution in Kurdistan by creating a great mentality, culture, language, manner, belief, spirituality and free lifestyle. In Kurdistan, the Middle East and the world, the truths that emerged in the concrete of the PKK have become the litmus paper of the fair and unfair, good and evil, freedom and slavery, democracy and nation-statism, beauty and ugliness, right and wrong, sacrifice and surrender, free stance and betrayal, exaltation and degradation, socialism and capitalism.

The PKK, which has put the Apoist ideology and paradigm into practice with great faith, will, patience, effort, labour and breathless struggle, is proudly welcoming the 47th anniversary of its official founding. Undoubtedly, all of these achievements are the work of the sacrificial struggle carried out by our people and our fallen comrades with Apoist style, pace and style, believing wholeheartedly in the Apoist ideology, and especially the endless efforts of Rêber Apo. The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla has demonstrated a valiant stance from Bakurê (Northern) Kurdistan to Medya Defence Zones, from mountains to metropolises and into the innermost parts of the war headquarters that the enemy calls ‘the apple of its eye’.  With its relentless struggle, the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla has succeeded in representing the PKK's spirit of invincibility and style that creates victories. The sacrificial pioneers of the Immortals Battalion, Sara Tolhildan Goyî, Rûken Zelal, Rojhat Zîlan, Erdal Şahin and most recently comrades Asya Ali and Rojger Hêlîn, who carried out the historic Ankara - TAI action, demonstrated what the Apoist sacrifice spirit is capable of. The historic sacrificial action of comrades Asya and Rojger, as the last link of the sacrificial actions that have taken place throughout the history of our struggle, extending from the Amed (Diyarbakır) Dungeon Resistance to the Zîlans, has further advanced the measures of sacrificial action and has peaked in many respects. The guerrilla’s operational breakthrough in the last year, its sacrificial resistance and high-paced mobilisation have frustrated all the calculations and plans of the enemy, bringing the fascist regime to the brink of collapse and bringing us closer to victory.

Alan Milazgîr, Şêxmûs Malazgîrt, Berwar Dersîm, Orhan Cihat Bingöl, Şiyar Efrîn, Tekîn Goyî, Serhat Jêhat Patnos, Mehmet Cûdî, Dr. Sara Tolhildan, Bêrîtan Nurhak Çiya, Herekol Şiyar, Hevrê Çiya, Şervan Varto, Canşêr Şêrawa, Ekîn Rodî, Xebat Türkmen and Piling Germiyan, as well as Apoist sacrificial commanders such as Dersim Nûrhaq, Medya Egîd, Sabri Bagok and Karker Tolhildan, who fought heroically and fell as martyrs in the 46th year of the PKK's struggle, have gone down in history as our symbol commanders who left their mark on our struggle and proved once again the invincibility of the PKK spirit.

As the People's Defence Forces of Kurdistan, which never compromise from Apoist sacrifice militancy, Apoist lifestyle and walking on the path of martyrs, our determination to lead the struggle for the existence and freedom of our people to victory is stronger than ever. As selfless Apoist fighters who are fully committed to the freedom of Rêber Apo and our people and who are ready to pay any price for this, we declare that as we enter the 47th year of the official founding of our Party, the PKK, we will march on to our historic tasks with higher effort, performance and success pace. We once again congratulate all our people and comrades on the new age of our Party PKK and wish them great success in the new year of struggle.”
