Turkish state forces are committing more atrocities in the areas under their occupation every day. Abducting, torturing civilians and destroying the nature in Afrin, the Turkish state forces and allied mercenaries have targeted graves this time.
In the Henan Cemetery in Afrin’s Shera district, occupation forces desecrated the graves of Kurdish intellectual Dr. Nuri Dersimi, his wife and many other prominent people in the region. The graves were looted and the bones of the dead were exhumed.
The Henan Cemetery is one of the oldest estructures in Afrin region and houses the graves of several Kurdish patriots, opinion leaders, religious leaders and prominent people who made history.
Nuri Dersimi, remembered especially with the Dersim uprising, had taken shelter in Aleppo during 1940’s because of the atrocities of the Turkish state. He passed away in 1973 and his wife lost her life in 1994. Both are buried in the Henan Cemetery.
On the other hand, mercenaries affiliated to the Ankara-allied Sultan Murad Brigades abducted Ayşe Abdulnasir (20) in al-Mahmudiya al-Zaydiya neighborhood of Afrin two days ago. The young woman was going from her home to her grandparents’ home when she was kidnapped. According to Hawar News Agency (ANHA), she was released only after the gangs received 5 million Syrian Lira ransom from her family.
In the same neighborhood, two civilians by the names of Ayşe Laqif and Yusif El Hedidi had been kidnapped two months ago. The aftermath of both women remains unknown since.
On Friday, occupation forces burned several houses to the ground and looted people’s property in the village of Qerekol.
