Nagihan Akarsel, one of the founders of the Jineoloji Research Center, was killed a hitman in Sulaymaniyah on 4 October 2022.

The Northern and Eastern Syria Jineoloji Research Academy opened a library in Aleppo in the name of martyr Akarsel on the occasion of the first anniversary of her death. Dozens of civil organization members, party representatives and many people attended the ceremony.

Kongra Star Berjîn Efrîn talked about the life and struggle of martyr Nagihan Akarsel and said that they will follow in the footsteps of martyr Nagihan and continue her struggle until the end.

Jineoloji Academy member Orîvan Ebdo said that Aleppo has been a versatile cultural center for centuries.

After the speeches, a movie about the life and struggle of Martyr Nagihan was screened.

Members of Kevana Zêrîn Movement performed some songs. Then, women opened the library in the name of martyr Akarsel.

The Kurdish journalist, academic and women’s rights defender Nagihan Akarsel was assassinated when leaving her home in Bakhtiary district in the town center of Sulaymaniyah on 4th October 2022.

While the killer of Nagihan Akarsel was identified as Ismail Peker from Ankara, hired by the Turkish Intelligence Organization (MIT) to carry out the assassination, no legal steps have been taken to date to convict the perpetrator and clarify the political background of this murder.
