KDP steals US equipment sent to Rojava

“The US is accusing the forces linked to Masoud Barzani's son Weysi Barzani of stealing the military equipment delivered to Rojava. The KDP forces are doing this at the request of the Turkish state.”

The South Kurdistan-based RojNews reports that the military equipment sent by the US to Rojava has been stolen by the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), the ruling party in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. A major crisis is reported to have arisen between the US military commanders and the KDP officials in Herîr over the issue.

Policy Expert Dilşad Mecîd released a statement on the subject on his Facebook account. He revealed that the US is accusing the forces linked to Masoud Barzani's son of stealing the military equipment delivered to Rojava.

“The US is accusing the forces linked to Masoud Barzani's son Weysi Barzani of stealing the military equipment delivered to Rojava. The KDP forces are doing this at the request of the Turkish state. Over the past two weeks, the US commanders in Herîr have sternly warned the KDP about the stealing. Most of the military equipment that was supposed to be delivered to Rojava has been lost. The US commanders warned the KDP to return the stolen equipment immediately,” Mecîd said.

Mecîd added that the Barzani family requested a meeting with the US commanders over the problem, but the meeting has not been held so far.
