Newroz was celebrated in 8 regions of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria with the slogan "Freedom for Leader Öcalan, a political solution to the Kurdish question".
Newroz celebrations were held in Mamşûr village of Dêrik, Helîq village of Girkê Legê, Dirêcîkê village of Tirbespiyê, Hîmo town of Qamişlo, Çaxirbazar village of Amûdê, Sed Xerbî (Rojava Dam) in Hesekê, Çolistan village of Dirbêsiyê and Municipal Stadium in Qamişlo city.
During the celebrations, messages were given for the physical freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, for the end of the Turkish occupation and the establishment of a decentralised pluralist Syria.
In addition, the resistance of the guerrilla forces and the people of North and East Syria against the attacks of the occupying Turkish state was saluted.
In the speeches that drew attention to the Autonomous Administration project, it was pointed out that the project implemented in Rojava is the most appropriate way to solve the Syrian crisis and end the occupation.
At the end of the celebrations, music, theatre and halay groups took the stage. People danced to the songs performed.
Newroz celebrations in Kobanê, Aleppo and Shehba were postponed due to bad weather conditions.
On the other hand, Kurds and their friends, representatives of political parties and associations in Lebanon gathered around the Newroz fire in Damur district of Beirut. The area of the celebration organised by the Newroz Cultural Association was decorated with posters of Abdullah Öcalan, martyr Mazlum Doğan and PKK flags.
