Oncology Center in Raqqa, a huge help for patients suffering from cancer

With the opening of the Oncology Center in Raqqa, the difficulties faced by cancer patients both in medical terms and in addressing the cost of reaching other cities in Syria for treatment, have been eliminated.

Raqqa Civil Assembly Health Committee opened the Oncology Center for the treatment of cancer patients at Raqqa National Hospital on 12 July.

There are 24 medical staff working in the center. Oncology Center staff receive their prescriptions free of charge to alleviate the treatment costs of patients and their families.

Ahîn Mihemed, spokesperson of the Oncology Center, said that when the Oncology department was opened, 130 cancer patients from across Northern and Eastern Syria applied for treatment.

The oncology department offers the opportunity to diagnose the disease, control it and perform tests. Free services are provided in matters such as meeting the prescriptions written by the doctors of the center.

The Coordinating Office of the Oncology Center communicates with associations and charities to procure patients' medicines.

Ahin told ANHA that medicines in this newly opened center, such as Methotrexate, Cislin, Cytarabine, Romacin, Etoposide, are now available for patients. In addition, Ahîn Mihemed stated that they have given the drugs free of charge to 8 patients from the cities of Raqqa, Manbij and Deir ez-Zor so far.

The Oncology Center provides health services on all days of the week except Fridays. The oncology department doctor treats patients from Sunday to Thursday. On Saturday, only patients are tested and their names are recorded.

It is possible to say that oncology treats various diseases. Oncology, which is a comprehensive field, is a department that deals with the investigation and treatment of tumors that grow out of control in the body in its most understandable way.
