The Northern and Eastern Syria Education and Training Board announced that schools in Northern and Eastern Syria will open their doors to students on 10 September.
The Board always strives to improve the educational situation in Northern and Eastern Syria and to implement modern education systems. The Board took important decisions at its annual meeting.
Azad Berazi, co-chair of the Board of Education and Training, spoke to ANHA about the plans and work they are carrying out and said: "The annual meeting was held to evaluate the 2022-2023 academic year. After evaluating all aspects of the educational activities at the Northern and Eastern Syria level, next year's work plans were created."
Speaking about the final declaration of the meeting, Berazi said that they will expand the educational activities in Northern and Eastern Syria, attaching importance to the needs of students and the education system. "We will increase the professional capacities of education personnel and teachers. We will establish a system for monitoring and evaluating schools with the cooperation of all relevant parties. A modern system will be established to select teachers who are experts in Education and Training. Innovative education methods based on practice and research will be applied and modern education methods will be provided. An education and training law will be written."
According to the Board of Education and Training, the number of students enrolled at all levels of education in schools in Northern and Eastern Syria is 863,388. The number of teachers is 43,099 people and they teach in 4,130 schools. 379 of these schools were renovated and put into service this year. Berazi also said that 208 schools were completely destroyed and 279 schools were partially destroyed.
Berazi said this about the new evaluation system: “It is a new system. It is not possible to immediately implement a new system in the education sector. There were some problems and they were overcome. Work is being done."
Berazi added: “We always try to ensure that every child receives education in the schools of the Autonomous Administration. We are always working to make education compulsory and to improve education."
