The ninth anniversary of the liberation from ISIS was celebrated in Kobanê.

The ninth anniversary of the liberation from ISIS was celebrated in Kobanê with an open-air event on the highly symbolic Şehîd Egîd Square. Numerous residents celebrated the resistance of their city with music, dance performances, speeches and a review of the last nine years and reaffirmed their commitment to democratic autonomy.

Speaking here, Mihemed Şahîn, the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Euphrates Canton Autonomous Administration, said: "Kobanê was surrounded by a number of enemies who targeted our city. They targeted the will of the people. However, the will of the people was greater than their plans. They fought until victory and defeated the gangs. The victory of Kobanê was the victory of all the peoples of the Middle East and the declaration of an autonomous administration was the most important step towards freedom. For this reason, we call out to those who are trying to frustrate our democratic project; you will not achieve your goal."

Faruq al-Mashi, Co-Chair of the Social Affairs Committee of North and East Syria, said: "Kobanê is the city of the resistance fighters. For this reason, we congratulate the families of martyrs and the resistance fighters."

Ayşe Efendi, Co-Chair of the Assembly of Martyrs' Families in the Euphrates Canton, said: "Today, everyone should take responsibility for the region so that the sacrifices of the martyrs are not in vain. We congratulate the people of the region on the declaration of the Autonomous Administration."

Macîde Hesûn, Member of Kongra Star Coordination in Euphrates Canton, also stated that today is a holy day to heal the world.
