Representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration have presented a project for a new university in Kobanê. A press conference was held in the village of Sofiya, about ten kilometers south of Kobanê.

Enwer Muslim, Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Canton of Kobanê, said: "In an historic process like this, we are working on the establishment of a new university in Kobanê. This project is being undertaken in cooperation with the Autonomous Administration, the Education Committee and the Hêvi Institute ".

According to the autonomous administration of Kobanê the university is expected to be completed in two years. The University of Kobanê will offer 35,000 students from all over Syria the opportunity to study.
