The Syrian Democratic Forces have released the names of two fighters who died in the ongoing “Operation Security Reinforcement” in Deir ez-Zor.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) published the names of two fighters who died in the 'Operation Security Reinforcement' in Deir ez-Zor.

The SDF press center said on Thursday that Diyar Ebdulmecîd Hesen and Raşid Mihemed Îbrahîm died in clashes in the small town of Diban on Tuesday. Both fighters came from the canton of Qamishlo.

Diyar Ebdulmecîd Hesen, whose code name was Herekol Qamishlo, was born in 2001 in the town of Amir Kebîr Mezin. Raşid Mihemed Îbrahîm (code name Agirî Qamishlo) was five years older and was from the village of Delawiyê. The SDF expressed its condolences to the families and said the two were brave fighters "who offered a determined resistance to the end before joining the caravan of the fallen."

'Security Reinforcement Operation'

The "Operation Security Reinforcement” was launched on 27 August by the SDF. The operation is directed against ISIS sleeper cells, as well as against corruption and drug trafficking on the eastern bank of the Euphrates, particularly in Deir ez-Zor. In the middle of last week, the commander of the Deir ez-Zor Military Council, Ahmed al-Khubail, known as Abu Khawla, was removed from office and arrested on charges of corruption, drug trafficking and abuse of power. Other members of the military council were also dismissed. Serious clashes then broke out between the SDF and various armed factions.
