The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that Turkish drones have been escalating their attacks on areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration in east and north-east Syria since the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, won a new presidential term.
SOHR has documented seven attacks by Turkish drones since early August in SDF-controlled areas, which left four combatants dead and ten others injured.
The attacks are distributed regionally as follows:
Heseke: Three attacks left four combatants dead.
Aleppo: Four attacks left several people injured.
Moreover, Turkish drones attacked areas where Kurdish forces are deployed on one occasion in August, leaving one combatant dead and three others injured.
The observatory listed further details as follows:
August 3: A Turkish drone attacked a car on Faru road in Al-Hasakah countryside, killing four fighters of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG).
August 13: A Turkish drone attacked a military checkpoint of the SDF-backed Manbij Military Council in Tukhar village in Manbij in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.
August 13: Three regime military posts near Tukhar village came under attack by Turkish drones.
August 14: A Turkish kamikaze drone attacked a position in Tel Al-Laban village to the west of Tel Tamr district, but no casualties were reported.
August 15: A Turkish drone attacked a car on Showaysh farm in Tel Tamr countryside in north-western Al-Hasakah, leaving several people injured.
August 18: A Turkish drone attacked a car of Kurdish forces near Nobl and Al-Zahraa Cities that are held by the regime forces and the Iranian militias in northern Aleppo countryside, leaving one killed and three others injured.
Accordingly, the number of attacks carried out by Turkish drones on areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration in north and north-east Syria since early 2023 has increased to 36. These attacks left 53 fatalities, as well as the injury of over 49 others. The fatalities are distributed as follows:
11 civilians, including a child and two women, and three civilian officials of the Autonomous Administration, including a female.
39 combatants of military formations operating in areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration.
Three regime soldiers.
Turkish drone attacks in SDF-controlled areas in 2023 are distributed regionally as follows:
Al-Hasakah: 17 attacks left eight civilians, including three women and a child, and 23 military personnel dead.
Al-Raqqah: Two attacks left no fatalities.
Aleppo countryside: 17 attacks left 16 combatants, three regime soldiers and three civilians dead.
On the other hand, the number of attacks by Turkish drones on areas where Kurdish and regime forces are deployed in the north Aleppo countryside in 2023, precisely since June 10, has reached nine. These attacks left many casualties; they are distributed as follows:
Four members of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) were killed and five others were injured.
Six regime soldiers were killed and 15 members of regime forces, including an officer, were injured.
