Sheiks and notables of the tribes from Raqqa made a statement in the town of Hezira to the north of the city.
The press statement was read out by Şêx Elî El Tayî, a notable from the tribe of Tay, in front of the Town Council building.
The statement called on the tribes in Deir ez-Zor to support the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) which has been conducting an operation against mercenaries and criminal elements targeting the safety and stability in the regions of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
“As the Kurdish, Arab, Syriac and Chechen peoples in North-East Syria, we stand on the same front,” said El Tayî and stressed that the SDF operation in Deir ez-Zor sought to ensure security in the region.

The Syrian Democratic Forces launched "Operation Security Reinforcement" against ISIS cells in the Deir ez-Zor region late on 27 August night. The offensive launched in cooperation with the international anti-ISIS coalition aims to track down and root out terror cells in order to stop potential attacks. The background is an increase in ISIS attacks against the civilian population, security personnel and local government employees. The operation is also directed against organised crime and smuggling networks. The area of operation includes areas east of the Euphrates, but primarily the Deir ez-Zor region in eastern Syria.
