Turkey once again attacks Northern and Eastern Syria using armed drones

Turkey continues to attack Northern and Eastern Syria using armed drones. In Kobanê, a post of Syrian troops was attacked twice within a few hours.

In Kobanê, a post of Syrian Arab Army troops was bombed by Turkish combat drones. Bombs fell on the checkpoint site in the village of Xerbîsan (Kharbisan), east of Kobanê, twice within a few hours on Thursday afternoon. Two soldiers were slightly injured, according to military sources.

A third member of the regime forces was injured in a Turkish drone strike in occupied Afrin. According to a report by the Kurdish news agency ANHA, the attack was directed against a post in the town of Tinibê, which belongs to the Shera district. In the nearby village of Elqemiyê, a drone targeted a Syrian military base.

Drone activity attributed to Turkey is also currently being observed over Ain Issa.

198 drone attacks in 2023

According to a report published by the Rojava Information Centre (RIC) the balance sheet for last year lists 198 drone attacks carried out by Turkey. These attacks killed 105 people and injured 123, including 31 and 63 civilians, respectively. Recently, Turkish drone attacks have increasingly been directed against regime troops who operate posts in the autonomous region, but also in the Turkish occupation zone. The government in Damascus generally does not comment on these attacks.
